WHY HIRE A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER?

FAQs-Wedding-Photographer

When you hire a professional, you’re not just hiring a person with a more expensive camera than your Uncle Bob. You’re hiring someone who knows how to make you (or whatever the subject is) look awesome, using an artistic eye, an ability to put the subject at ease, and the technical skill to give you a riveting image that everyone will notice. You’re hiring someone who can take your vision of yourself (or of the subject you want shot), and mold it into something eye-catching, truthful, and new.

The other reason is value.   Whenever we, as consumers, make a purchase, we consider the “value” we receive. We all want the most “bang for our buck.”  It is no different when hiring a professional photographer. As professionals, we will take interest in you. We bring the knowledge, experience and ability to capture the images in a way most amateurs cannot. Whether it’s a formal or candid look, or often times, both. We also bring an artistic vision to the shoot with an understanding of lighting and composition. Whether in the studio, outdoors or a low light situation, a professional photographer knows how to get the most out of a moment.  We also cannot forget, a professional uses high end equipment. Staying on top of new technology in the digital age is its own challenge, one that truly takes a professional commitment and expense.   We have the best SLR cameras, lenses and lights, and most importantly, we know how to use it. Also keep in mind. For every hour we spend behind the camera shooting, we spend 2 hours editing, to give each image a professional look.

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR FOR A FAMILY PHOTO SHOOT?

This is the question we hear the most from families.  Our answer is simple. Just be yourself.  In other words, if you are a casual family, be casual. If you are a trendy family, dress trendy. If you are a formal family, then go with that. We love when family outfits are coordinated without matching. Pick a color scheme or theme that works for you (think about what colors people have told you that you look good in.) Also, keep in mind where you will be shooting.  For example: Indoors or outdoors?  Studio or beach?  It is also a good idea to wear clothes you are comfortable in, because often times you will be sitting or moving.   Avoid loud patterns, logos or words on the outfit. Bring accessories and layers that pull the outfit together. This is especially true with children. The use of hats, bows, headbands, leggings, etc. adds to the photo.   Of course, when in doubt, call and talk with us. We would be happy to assist. DO YOU DO CANDID OR FORMAL SHOTS?

The answer is both. We like to do a mix of candid and posed pictures when photographing a family and weddings. Often times, the best images result from an unplanned moment.  We generally like to have a loose plan at the start of the shoot, and then see where the shoot naturally goes from there.

HOW DO YOU GET A SHOOT TO GO SMOOTHLY WITH SMALL KIDS?

As parents, we totally understand this!  We suggest trying to schedule photo shoots after naps or early in the day when they will be less tired (and cranky.)  Bring a bag of treats or special toys, snacks and drinks. If a shot isn’t working, or your child is getting fussy, we just mix it up or take a little break. After all, we want it to be a fun time for everyone.

HOW QUICKLY DO I GET TO SEE THE PHOTOS AND HOW?

We generally promise a 3 week turn around. But usually it is no more than a week. We edit the shoots and put them up on an online gallery. You will get the link emailed to you as soon as they are done.

DO YOU DO PRINTS, CANVASES AND PHOTO BOOKS?

Yes, you will have the option to order from our site. We offer all sizes, as well as specialty items, large prints and canvases.

WHAT TIME OF DAY IS BEST?

This depends on where your shoot is. For beach our favorite time is sunset. For outdoors, or at a park, morning light or 1-2 hours before sunset is best. We will work with you to pick the best location and time.

WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD. CAN WE RESCHEDULE?

Of course.  We will check in with you the day before the shoot.  If things are not looking perfect, we can reschedule.

DO YOU HAVE A MAKE UP ARTIST?

Yes, I work with several amazing hair and make-up artists. Please email for their contact information.
